How do we work out the cost of bespoke mouldings?

Firstly we need a physical sample or a drawing of the moulding that you wish us to produce and the quantity required. As we need to produce tooling for bespoke items, the minimum charge is £100.00 per item. Material costs are then added on top of this depending on the volumes required.

Why choosing the source of your wood can make a world of difference

If you are interested in protecting endangered forests, and also the communities affected by illegal deforestation, you can choose to purchase wood that is certified as coming from sustainably managed forests. By being mindful of the source of your wood – and by ensuring it is not the result of illegal or irresponsible logging – you will have a direct impact on the world at large.

TimberCut4U’s policy: safeguarding the environment

Like our parent company, James Donaldson Timber Limited, we are very aware of the importance of ensuring that our suppliers obtain their timber from sustainably managed forest resources.

Such resources ensure that timber remains one of the most renewable, natural and environmentally-friendly of standard building materials. For this reason, we are suppliers of FSC and PEFC certified timber.

About FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)

Founded in 1993, in response to public concern about deforestation and the demand for a trustworthy wood-labelling scheme, FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.

FSC UK is a registered charity, supported by NGOs including WWF, Greenpeace and the Woodland Trust.

About PEFC (The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)

PEFC is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.

Being an umbrella organisation, PEFC works by endorsing national forest certification systems; these are developed through multi-stakeholder processes.

About Responsible Purchasing (RP)

Responsible timber purchasing often needs to go beyond purchasing certified timber or timber from non-controversial countries. Importers, agents and merchants increasingly engage with suppliers and encourage them to improve forest management practices. In a global timber market this is a very difficult and challenging task.

The Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) is a tool that assists TTF members in implementing the Environmental Code of Practice in the TTF Code of Conduct. This states that ‘Members are committed to sourcing their timber and timber products from legal and well-managed forests’ and complements the UK/EU global policy objective of stopping illegal logging.

Sustainable Forestation

Every year, around the world, an area half the size of the UK is cleared of natural forests: temperate and tropical, North and South and on every continent. These forests, which once covered half of the planet, are irreplaceable and their loss has profound economic, social and environmental impacts.*
