African Sapele is the ideal material for you. African Sapele is a highly resistant wood with high tolerance against indentation, bending, shock resistance. African Sapele wood originates from West Africa and grows from Sierra Leone down to Angola. This beautiful wood has a deep reddish-brown colour and irregular grain pattern, making it the perfect accent wood for your projects. Ideal for furniture, shopfitting, joinery, flooring and other small wooden speciality items, African Sapele is relatively easy to work with; however, issues may arise when machining due to tightly interlocking grains. The timber takes screws and nails easily without splitting and responds well to glueing, polish and varnish.
