Our recent customer and DIY enthusiast, Dougie Bell completed some lockdown renovations on two benches using Iroko timber supplied by TimberCut4U.
Dougie had two garden benches that were in need of some care and attention to bring them back to life, and he used the recent lockdown to do so. The benches held some sentimental value for Dougie and his family as they belonged to his great uncle in the 1970s. The original benches had previously had various paint touch-ups, bits of wood bolted to them and were hidden at the back of his shed and garage, and slowly deteriorating.

Using some of his free time during the lockdown this summer, Dougie decided to set himself the goal of restoring these tired-looking benches so that he and his family could enjoy them again. He wanted an attractive, sturdy and long-lasting hardwood suitable for outdoor furniture. He chose African Iroko wood because of its tough, dense, highly durable texture and rich coloured grain characteristics.
Both benches were also powder coated to provide a more durable finish than liquid paints, while still providing an attractive finish that could withstand the Scottish weather it would be exposed to.

Dougie was extremely pleased with the transformation of his new benches and said: “I came across the TimberCut4U website while searching for a hardwood timber supplier in Scotland. One of the benches now takes pride of place with Dougie’s mother for her to enjoy and rest on when she takes a break from her gardening to enjoy the sunshine. Dougie kept the other bench for his garden patio.
